Minister of Communications and Transport of BIH Damir Hadžić talked in Belgrade with Minister of Traffic of the Republic of Serbia Milutin Mrkonjić on cooperation of two counties in the area of air traffic.
The meeting, attended by Head of Directorate for Civil Aviation of BIH (BHDCA) Đorđe Ratkovica, Head of Directorate for Civil Aviation of the Republic of Serbia (SMATSA) Nebojša Starčević, Head of the Agency for Civil Aviation Control of Serbia and Montenegro (SMATSA) Nikola Stankov, discussed technical and operative details of taking over flight control activities over Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Following a series of preparatory meetings at the level of Directorates for Civil Aviation, SMATSA and BHDCA, and concrete measures taken to-date on operationalization of this extremely complicated and demanding project, the meting considered a set of additional measures necessary in order to comply with strict European regulations concerning security, regularity and accuracy in air traffic, including the high-quality staff, trained at the Vršac Technical Centre, based on a 2006 Contract.
Since SMATSA is the second highest ranked among European flight controllers, and taking regard that 17 future flight controllers from Bosnia and Herzegovina completed such highly demanding training, this marked the end of an important phase and a major step towards the finalisation. in 2014. of a multiyear process that involved a number of stakeholders in the process of full taking over of air control over Bosnia and Herzegovina airspace.
As a guarantee of cooperation, which was assessed as highly professional and serious, it was stressed that there is a mutual commitment, knowledge and experience of air navigation potentials of Serbia that this extremely complex and demanding assignment is taken to its finalisation, in which no phase, regardless of deadlines, is missed in this very demanding task of taking over flight control over BIH.
Both Minister Hadžić and Mrkonjić insisted on this, so as to ensure the highest level possible of the air traffic security, taking regard of the traffic intensity and position of the two countries on the international air flight map.
