Zvizdić – Sultanoglu: Addressing Natural Disasters Requires Global Approach

Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BIH Dr Denis Zvizdić talked with Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations and UNDP Regional Director for Europe and Community of Independent States Cihan Sultanouglu, on which occasion he thanked for the assistance UN and its agencies extended in the post-war period and during last year’s floods. 

Speaking of the considerable economic damage caused by the natural disaster, Chairman Zvizdić said that a risk prevention is the best approach against any development harmful to a state, stressing that measure-taking against natural disasters requires a global and organised approach.

He informed Ms Sultanoglu  of the current political developments in BIH, and expressed his optimism  based on an agreement reached at yesterday’s meeting in Jahorina, where significant cross-sector reforms were defined.

Sultanoglu emphasised good cooperation with the BIH Institutions, adding that UN will continue to support the European way of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as of other states of the region.
