Water Supply to Čapljina Project Receives EUR 4.4 million Grant

Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BIH and Minister of Finance and Treasury dr. Nikola Špirić and Director of the Public Enterprise “Utilities” Čapljina Mario Čolić signed with Director of the BIH Office of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Libor Krkoška a Grant Contract worth EUR 4.4 million for Construction and Modernisation of Water Supply Pipeline in Čapljina Project.

“We have been engaged on this project since 2012, when we signed a loan contract with the EBRD worth EUR 5 million, which was covered by IPA 2010 funds”, Minister Špirić said.

Minister of Finance and Treasury of BIH thanked to the EU, which supported, through the EBRD, the most favourable fund provision  from IPA programmes, and noted that the project is accompanied by EUR 700.000 worth technical assistance provided by Governments of Italy, Czech Republic and Spain.

Krkoška said that the project of water supply of Čapljina will be an extended water supply pipeline, enabling connection of additional 10,000 inhabitants, while the existing water supply pipeline will be reconstructed, thus reducing the existing water loss rates.
