The Ministry of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina organised in Sarajevo a Conference on “Transition, Privatisation and Corruption”, under which the first Memorandum on Cooperation in Prevention and Combat against Corruption in Bosnia and Herzegovina was signed.

One among the signatories of the Memorandum, Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina Fahrudin Radončić, said in his introductory address to the Conference, that BIH is the top European country by a system corruption and that the entire privatisation process was very deficient producing very weak financial effects, with its adverse impact to stability and social security.

The Memorandum was signed by Director of the Agency for Prevention of Corruption and Coordination of Combat against Corruption Sead Lisak, and Director of the ACCOUNT Network of anti-corruption NGOs Eldin Karić. Both the Conference and the Ministry of Security’s initiative for signing of the Memorandum were supported by the Embassy of the United States of America in BIH.

“I am encouraged by the fact that the Ministry of Security of BIH tabled an initiative for this Memorandum of Understanding, and I commend them for taking this step hand in hand with the civil society”, US Ambassador in BIH Partick S. Moon said, pointing out that the combat against corruption is vital “if BIH is wanted to join NATO and the European Union”.
