Signed to Contract for Modification of Bijača Border-Crossing Master Project

Minister of Communications and Transport of BIH Damir Hadžić, Deputy Manager of the IGH Institute from Zagreb Damir Tkalčćić, and Manager of IPSA Institute from Sarajevo Ešref Gačanin signed in Sarajevo today a Contract for Modification of the Mater Project of the Bijača Border-Crossing, construction phase, LOT 1, LOT 2, LOT 3, LOT 4, under the “Motorway on Corridor V c” Project.

Since Bosnia and Herzegovina proposed the construction of the Bijača Border-Crossing for IPA funds for 2011, funds will be operative in late 2012, and project documentation needs to be modified, i.e. adjusted to construction phases according to LOTs, all with an aim for Bosnia and Hezregoivna to for the Republic of Croatia’s accession to the EU.

LOT 1 includes construction of a motorway section in the area of the Border-Crossing of 1,2 km length; LOT 2 refers to construction of the Bijača Border-Crossing and its equipping for a  minimal operation; LOT 3 covers complete furbishing and equipping of the Bijača Border-Crossing; LOT 4 incudes building of northern exit. The first two construction phases (LOT 1 and LOT 2) are to be completed and put into operation by Croatia’s accession to the EU, on June 30, 2013, at latest.

“The priority of the Ministry of Communications and Transport is the construction and equipping of two European border-crossings, in Bijača and Gradiška, so as to enable export of goods requiring inspection, products of animal origin, to the Republic of Croatia, after its entry into the EU”, Minister Hadžić stated after the signing.

Minister Hadžić added that Bosnia and Herzgovan will seek opening of other border-crossings for a smooth movement of goods to and from the European Union.
