Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH Mirko Šarović met in Ankara with Minister of Trade of Serbia Rasim Ljajić and Minister of Economy of Turkey Zafer Çağlayan. Participants of the meeting discussed how to improve the economic relations and increase trade relations between Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Turkey. It was agreed that in May the Ministers would sign an agreement on partnership the aim of which is deepening of the overall economic cooperation and improvement of the trade relations between the friendly three countries.

Minister Šarović reminded that this meeting represents a step forward to the implementation of the conclusions reached at a recent meeting of the Joint Commission for Economic Cooperation between BiH and Serbia.

„Minister Ljajić and I made a plan to jointly approach the Turkish partners and that is exactly the point – Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina can jointly, rather than independently, achieve much more in the field of economy,” Minister Šarović pointed out.

Minister Ljajić emphasized that “seen independently both Serbia and BiH are small markets and in this way we want to increase our capacities, both through attracting foreign investment and through opening the possibility of a joint approach to the Turkish and other markets. In any case, in a month we are going to hold a larger economic gathering within this planned trilateral meeting between Serbia, BiH and Turkey. Business people from the three countries will participate in this gathering and, hopefully, enter into new business arrangements”.
