MoU on International Monitoring Operation for Census in BIH Signed

Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BIH Vjekoslav Bevanda signed, in the presence of Head of the EU Delegation in BIH Peter Sørensen, Head of European Council Mission in BIH Mary-Ann Hennessey and Manager of Eurostat Pieter Everaeras, a Memorandum of Understanding, earlier signed by eth European Commission and Council of Europe, for Operation of International Monitoring of Census of Population and Households in BIH in 2012/2013. 

After the signing, Head of the EU Delegation in BIH Peter Sørensen and Head of the Council of Europe Mission in BIH Mary-Ann Hennessey signed a Grant Contract worth EUR 700,000 for the purpose of the International Monitoring Operation.

“The Monitoring Operation is supposed to add to confidence in the Census, to secure a wide turn out of citizens and commitment for compliance of UNECE and Eurostat standards and recommendations, adopted by the Conference of European Statistic professionals, in addition to an EC Directive on Census of Population and Households and measures for its implementation. In this, the Basic Principles of Official Statistics need to be observed, such are the European Statistical Code of Conduct and international standards and regulations for data protection and confidentiality”.

The Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina will provide a political agreement and endorsement of the Memorandum by relevant all-level political actors in Bosnia and Herzegovina”, Chairman of the Council of Ministers Vjekoslav Bevanda stated after the signing ceremony.
