Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers of B-H and Minister of Finance and Treasury Dragan Vrankić received on April 6, 2011 afternoon Vice Prime Minister of the Republic of Turkey and State Minister Ali Babacan, also the head of delegation of the Republic Turkey at the Sarajevo Business Forum.

At the meeting, the interlocutors exchanged their views on the current political and economic situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and assessed a need for a speed-up of reforms aimed at Euro-Atlantic Integrations, focusing on possibilities for a joint cooperation.

The Vice prime Minister of the Republic of Turkey said that an exceptional interest of Turkish businessmen for a meaningful engagement in B-H is being thwarted by political instability.

Minister Vrankić stressed the political reform as a condition for stability and prosperity of the country, which economic potentials remain unutilised, and that would take Bosnia and Herzegovina, though a fair constitutional reform acceptable to all its citizens, to the path of a speedy overall progress. He informed his guest of positions in view of the process of constitution of government in the Federation of B-H and at the state level. He said that “the latest unconstitutional and illegal developments and impositions in the Federation, countering the will of one people and assisted by the international community, may only cause destabilisation and deepening of no confidence among the peoples and slow down reforms in B-H on its way to the EU and NATO membership”.

Ahead of the regular spring meetings of the International Monetary Fund, in which Minister Vrankić is B-H Governor, and Vice Prime Minister of the Republic of Turkey discussed restructuring of the IMF and positioning of our country within its constituence, including a possibility for joint cooperation in international organisations.
