Minister Špirić Receives in Introductory Visit First Deputy High Representative in BIH

Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BIH and Minister of Finance and Treasury of BIH Dr Nikola Špirić received high representative of BIH Valentin Inzko and newly-appointed First Deputy High Rrepresentative and Supervisor for the Brčko District Tamir Waser, who came in his first official visit since his assumption of the current assignment.
High Representative Valentin Inzko introduced his Deputy to Minister Špirić, and emphasised that he is an experienced American diplomat knowable of the situation in BIH.
Minister Špirić wished to Waser a success in his new post, and stressed that positive results in BIH can be reached only through a dialogue among domestic political actors, in addition though an effort to improve economic situation.
“In the Ministry of Finance and Treasury of BIH we are currently engaged in the preparation of the 2014 Budget, which we expect this time to be adopted on time. It would be followed by the fifth review of the Stand-by Arrangement of BIH with the IMF, and economic indices proved better than its forecasts, which points at the direction we are to take in future”, Minister Špiirć said.
He added that BIH needs a new optimism which might be boosted by the implementation of the European Court for Human Rights ruling in ‘Sejdić-Finci’ case.
The meeting discussed possible modalities of allocation of VAT revenues and the position of the Brčko District in the system, as Deputy High Representative Waser is also Supervisor for the Brčko District and Minister Špirić chairs the Indirect Taxation Administration Steering Board.
They exchanged their opinion on the current political situation in BIZH, assessing that efforts to find compromise solution are necessary in order to remove obstacles to further moving of BIH towards the EU.
