Minister Ljubić Talks with Ambassador of Saudi Arabia

Minister for Human Rights and Refugees of BIH Damir Ljubić received in Sarajevo today Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in BIH Eid Mohamed A. Althakafi.

Minister Ljubić informed Ambassador Althakafi on the process of preparations for the up-coming Regional Donor Conference “Durable Solutions for Refugees and Displaced Persons”, to be held in Sarajevo, on April 24, 2012.

“The aim of the Conference is to secure funds for implementation of a Joint Return Programme by four partner countries, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Serbia and Montenegro, Minister Lubić stated, mentioning that total fund raising is expected to reach KM 500 million, out of which KM 100 million for Bosnia and Herzegovina.

He pointed that arrival is expected of high level officials from the region, as well as from the USA, European Union, OSCE, United Nations, and other international organisations.

Ambassador Althakafi informed Minister Ljubić that his country approved USD 18 million worth assistance to Bosnia and Herzegovina for refugee return programmes, and that related agreement between BIH and Saudi Arabia is to be signed soon. He said that the Saudi Development Fund will continue assisting the return of refugees and displaced persons in BIH.

Minister Ljubić thanked for the support Saudi Arabia has been extending to date, and expressed his expectation that the existing good cooperation will be continued.
