Meeting with Libyan Minister for Families of Deceased and Missing Persons

Minister for Human Rights and Rrefugees of Bosnia and Herzegovina Damir Ljubić received today Naser Jbreil Hamed Minister for Families of Deceased and Missing Persons of Libya. The meeting was attended by the Libyan Ambassador in BIH, representative of the Association of Families of Deceased and Missing Persons and Advisor to Minister, and discussion unfolded on the experiences of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the post-war period and the promulgation of the Law on Refugees and Missing Persons, including the establishment of agencies or administrative bodies to deal with these issues.

Minister Ljubić expressed his readiness to offer support in all open issues in which his Ministry can assist.

Libyan Minister informed Minister Ljubić on the current issues he faces and which are to some extend similar to those faced by our country upon the end of war.

There is no piece of legislation in Libya on missing persons, which represents a key problem to finding solution of this outstanding issue. Minister Naser Jbreil Hamed announced setting-up workshops and panels for debates on the required law, as an attempt to reach a consensus on promulgation of such important piece of legislation. He also announced an invitation to representatives of the Ministry of Human Rights and Refugees to take part a the debate.

At the end of the meeting, the Ministers agreed further close cooperation and mutual support and exchange of experiences.
