Loans for District Heating in Prijedor and Water Supply in Gradačac



Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Finance and Treasury of BIH Nikola Špirić signed today guarantee and loan contacts for projects of district heating in Prijedor and water supply in Gradačac with Head of BIH Office of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Ian Brown.

Brown signed loan contracts for above projects with Manager of the Public Enterprise “Toplane” (Central Heating) in Prijedor Ljiljana Despotović and with Manager of the Public Utility “Komunalac” in Gradačac Damir Okanović.

Minister Špirić underlined that the loan for Prijedor “Central Heating” is  worth EUR 7 million, and loan for the water supply project in Gradačac is worth EUR six million.

“Other than loan proceeds for ‘Central Heating’ in Prijedor, the Swedish Agency for Development (SIDA) and EBRD secured EUR two million of grant funds from their  investment fund, and SIDA secured additional EIR 550,000 grant for support to technical cooperation”, said Minister Špirić.

The Central Heating Project consists of construction of a new boiler facility on biomass and   facility for biomass preparation and storing, in addition to installation of heat measurement into residential buildings.

The EBRD Loan of EUR six million is intended for extension of the existing water supply pipeline at the bordering locations of the Municipality of Gradačac and for modernisation of the whole water supply system.
