Head of EU Delegation Peter Sorensen Hands over 2012 BIH Progress Report to Chairman Bevanda
10/09/2012
Vijeće ministara Bosne i Hercegovine
Presenting the main points of the report, Ambassador Sorensen said that countries of the region have made improvements in reform implementation and that Bosnia and Herzegovina is expected to follow the way.
Sorensen, conveying messages from EU Enlargement Commissioner Štefan Füle, said that the European Union wants BIH to become its member and that it is ready to assist it in these processes, but that all level authorities in BIH need to take over responsibility, fulfil the commitments they undertook and implement the agreed reforms. Sorensen underlined that nonexistence of an effective coordination mechanism poses an additional problem to the realisation of goals, and that more attention is expected to be paid to its establishment.
The Council of Ministers of BIH will hold a thematic session next Tuesday to consider the 2012 Progress Report for BIH, said Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BIH Vjekoslav Bevanda, adding that the processes in BIH over the past year gave no rise to expectations of a better report.
According to Bevnada, BIH authorities must make additional efforts in order to have the next report more positive, which would imply bringing about improvements for BIH citizens, as well.
