Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BIH Dr Denis Zvitdić met in Brussels with Secretary-General of NATO Jens Stoltenberg. 

During the meeting, Chairman Zvizdić said the strategic foreign policy aim of Bosnia and Herzegovina is the membership in NATO. He stressed that Bosnia and Herzegovina is determined to promote peace, stability, safety and prosperity in the region and globally, and that it is opted for deepening cooperation in the areas of defence and security, including  cooperation for the European and Euro-Atlantic integrations of the region. He informed the Secretary-General of the fulfilment of conditions for activation  of the NATIO Membership Action Plan, and pointed out that BIH takes effort to accommodate requirements form Tallinn so that NATO may take decision on MAP activation as soon as possible.

Chairman Zvizdič briefed the Secretary-General of the progress made as of lately in Bosia and Herzegovina.

Secretary-General Stoltenberg commended the BIH progress in the realisation of MAP activation requirements, underlining that Tallinn requirements need to be fully implemented. He said NATO and BIH share the interest, as to the fostering of cooperation aimed at security and safety. He thanked for BIH participation in a NATO-led mission in Afghanistan, where there are currently serving 55 members of the BUIH Armed Forces.

Chairman Zvizdić said BIH should become a member of NATU, not only because of guarantees of internal security, but also because of the fact that BIH will, by way of harmonising to NATO-promoted standards and values, become a modern state, where democracy, rule of law and human rights respect are the standing categories.

Chainman Zvizdić said that by its participation in NATO activities, Bosnia and Herzegovina takes active preparations to be a credible, ready prepared and serious ally in future, which would also be an additional value for the Alliance, adding that on the grounds of that he expects the MAP to be activated at the next NATO Summit.

The meeting was attended by Almir Đuvo, Head of BIH Mission to NATO in Brussels.
