Chairman Zvizdić and CoE Secretary-General Jagland: Presiding over Council of Europe taken As Mater of Great Honour and Responsibility for BH

Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BIH Denis Zvizdić informed today Secretary-General of the Council of Europe Thorbjorn Jagland of priorities of the Council of Ministers of BIH, saying that, first of all, it is tackling with requirements on the European Union way, followed by strengthening of economy, rule of law, ad internal and external stability. 

Chairman Zvizić said that the Council of Ministers of BH has already adopted tens of European integrations-related documents, and expressed his pleasure for the up-coming taking over the presidency of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe by BIH.

“Presiding over the Council of Europe is understood as a great honour and responsibility, as well, and we will do our utmost to exercise of the presidency function the best way possible”, Chairman Zvizdić said at the meeting.

He informed the Secretary General of main priorities of the presidency. He pointed out the importance of neighbourhood policy of the Council of Europe, and said that BIH plans a conference on “the Council of Europe Neighbourhood Policy”, that is expected to be of interest for BIH and the region, as well as for Europe.

Secretary-General Jagland expressed his support to fostering of economy and economic growth, stressing that it is a precondition for citizens of this country to be satisfied.

“The focus will be placed at economic issues and in the period to come we will adopt an economic reforms programme, together with the Entities, to improve the favourable ambience for entrepreneurship development”, Chairman Zvizdić said during his meeting with Secretary-General Jagland.

They also agreed that a combat against crime and terrorism is one among major priorities of BIH on its way towards the European Union.
