Chairman Bevanda and Ambassador Hedberg Sign Agreement Worth KM 6.2 million

Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BIH Vjekoslav Bevanda and Ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden in BIH Bosse Hedberg signed in Sarajevo a Special Agreement for Projects/Programmes between the Council of Ministers of BIH and Kingdom of Sweden. 

Under the Agreement, Sweden will support the implementation and monitoring of a Support Programme for the Second Phase of Public Administration Reform Fund with the amount of SEK 28,000,000 (equivalent around KM 6.2 million), to be disbursed in tranches over the next three years.

The aim of the Support Programme the Second Phase of Fund is to implement the public administration reform in order to raise its capabilities at the State, Entity and Brčko District levels for adoption and implementation of the acquis communitaire. The aim is also to secure a harmonised approach to project implementation support across BIH, within the Public Administration Reform Strategy and Revised Action Plan s 1 and 2.

“The public administration reform is one of key requirements for accession of BIH to the EU. Our aim is to have a modern administration capable to take over and implementing eth European legislative, so that BIH should become a part of the European administrative space”, underlined Chairman Bevanda following the ceremony of signing of the Agreement.

He expressed his gratitude to Sweden for tis unreserved assistance it extends t BIH on its road to the EU, and stated his conviction that the projects financed through donor funds would contribute to a more effective, transparent, IT-connected and more accountable public administration to be at service both to its citizens and business entities.

The Swedish Ambassador thanked to Bevanda for the huge efforts he invests to refirms in BIH.

“There is a lot more to be done on the way of BIH towards the EU, not because it is an expectation of Brussels, but rather because it is the interest and need of citizens who want to become citizens of the EU. Sweden is a friend of BIH and it strongly supports its European way”, Hedberg said.
