Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BIH Vjekoslav Bevanda. Deputy Chairman and Minister of Foreign Affairs of BIH Zlatko Lagumdžija, Minister of Civil Affairs of BIH Sredoje Nović and Chief of Staff of the Office of Chairman Eugen Šušak attended in Vatican today the inaugural mass of Pope Francis at the St. Peter’s square.

Following the inaugural mass, Pope Francis received the BIH delegation, led by Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BIH Vjekoslav Bevanda.

Before over 500 thousand pilgrims and over 130 delegations of states and religious communities, Pope Francis assumed the duty of the Pontiff of the Roman Catholic Church.

“We have to protect mankind, especially the poorest, weakest and the less important ones, those who are hungry, thirsty, naked and detained. And the real assistance of the Bishop of Rome and his main task is to protect the sick and poor”, said Pope Francis in his inaugural address.

The inaugural mass marks the official start of pontificate of Pope Francis, who assumed this name in memory of Francis Assisi, man whose believes, like humble life, the Pope follows himself. Pope Francis decided to preserve his coat of arms and slogan “Poor, but chosen”, from the Gospel of Mathew, the same one that he had as Cardinal, Archbishop of Buenos Aires.
