Bevanda-Wammen Meeting: EU Countries Expect Progress in BIH

In his press statement after the meeting Chairman Bevanda assessed the visit of the Minister of European Affairs of Denmark, the EU presiding country, as very important one.
“Denmark is a partner country. The EU countries expect to see a breakthrough along the EU Agenda, primarily the adoption of a solution concerning the Sejdić&Finci ECHR Award in the Parliament”, Chairman Bevanda said, sterssing that it si a priority issue to solve without which the Stabilisation and Accession Agreement with the EU cannot take effect.
“With all the commandments for our achievements made in this short time following a lengthy political crisis, the existing expectations incline to a soon resolving of this issue, the SAA taking effect, and follow-up activities for credible applying to the EU membership”, the Chairman of the Council of Ministers concluded.
Minster Wammen said that Denmark is a close friend to BIH and that he believes that BIh belongs to the European Union.
He stressed that importance of the implementation of the Sejdić&Finci Award, saying that the solution of this issue will unblock the further EU integrations process of BIH.
Solving the issue of Sejdić&Finci means the adoption of a decision at the Parliament and amendments of the Constitution“, Wammen was precise, expressing his hope that political leaders would do their best to arrive at a solution by May 23 of this year.
Wammen also stressed the importance of reform implementation in the areas of the rule of law, fight against corruption and organised crime, public administration and others.
“These reforms are needed not for the EU but for the benefit of BIH citizens”, said Minister Wammen, and concluded that “Denmark and the EU will support BIH, but at the end it is on BIH itself to undertake necessary steps for its own citizens”
