Bevanda – Mejia Meeting: Euro-Atlantic Integrations without Alternative
06/21/2012
Vijeće ministara Bosne i Hercegovine
They both agreed that the political relations between BIH and Spain are excellent, proven also by recent visit by Kingdom of Spain Juan Carlos I to Mostar. A joint assessment was that the economic cooperation is not at a satisfactory level and that both countries need to do a lot more for promotion of economic cooperation potentials.
Chairman Bevanda informed Ambassador Meija on current activities of the Council of Ministers of BIH on acceleration of the European integrations process in Bosnia and Herzegovina. He stressed that the Council of Ministers has done a lot in a short time to prepare proposals for future arrangements with the IMF and World Bank, which, if realised, would unblock EUR 100 million of the European Commission funds allocated for the institutional support to Bosnia and Herzegovina. Chairman Bevanda expressed a full commitment of the Council of Ministers of BIH to the Euro-Atlantic integrations, which have no alternative.
Ambassador Mejia pointed that Spain is bounded to Bosnia and Herzegovina and it tries in many ways to support the people of BIH. She said that Spain, as both the EU and NATO member, supports BiH’s progress towards membership in these two organisations.
Chairman Bevanda thanked to Ambassador Meija for the support the Kingdom of Spain has been extending to Bosnia and Herzegovina to date, especially for engagement of Spanish troops in the peace-keeping missions in our country, where some of them lost their lives serving here for the benefit of the peoples of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
