Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BIH Vjekoslav Bevanda received in Sarajevo head of the World Bank for BIH Jane Armitage in a farewell visit. 

Chairman Bevanda expressed his gratitude for all the World Bank has done in the previous cooperation, which resulted in a highest success rate of funds attraction in the South-East Europe.

“Almost from the bottom of funds attraction effectiveness scale, BIH has reached the region’s top. A great due for that goes to our guest”, the Chairman of the Council of Ministers stated after the meeting.

At the meeting, they highlighted a necessity of acceleration of the ratification process, considering the approved credit lines yet not operative due to ratification process deadlock. Chairman Bevanda said that those are loans for SMEs, irrigation and several underway projects.

The Chairman of the Council of Ministers also required a continuation of the IDA arrangement.

He informed the visitor of the current developments, including today’s working-consultative meeting of the Council of Ministers of BIH on the 2013 Budget, which Ministers are to discuss on Monday, November 12, 2012.

In the farewell visit following her five-year term in office, the Director of the World Bank Armitage expressed her pleasure for the considerable progress achieved in the execution of World Bank operations under its investment portfolio in BIH.

While calling for an acceleration of the ratification process of the approved projects, she added that the World Bank has at its disposal funds for budgetary support, which BIH might receive if a structural reforms progress is achieved in public administration, pension, salaries, social transfers and public sectors, in which there is a lot of space for improvement.

The Director of the World Bank also underlined a need for reform implementation in the areas of business environment and investment climate, and stressed the commitment of the World Bank for continuation of cooperation with BIH.
