Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina Holds its 70th Extraordinary, Phone Session

The Council of Ministers of BIH adopted, at its extraordinary, phone, session a piece of information by the Ministry of Civil Affairs on a proposal for participation of Bosnia and Herzegovina at the Venetian Biennale of Contemporary art and Architecture in 2025-2031.

The session accepted a proposal by the Ministry of Education and Culture of Republika Srpska for Bosnia and Herzegovina to be represented at the 61st venetian Biennale in 20226 by the Museum of Contemporary Art of Republika Srpska project titled “Domus Diasporica” by author Mladen Bundalo, with Custos Isidora Živković is Custos and Exhibition Commissioner Sarita Vujković.

The Ministry of Civil Affairs of BIH should submit a letter of interest, via the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BIH, to the Biennale Directorate for participation of Bosnia and Herzegovina a the 61st Venetian Biennale of Contemporary Art and Architecture in 2026.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina is responsible to support activities towards realisation of a successful representation of Bosnia and Herzegovina at the Venetian Biennale.

The Ministry of Civil Affairs of BIH should conclude a contract with the Museum of Contemporary Art in Banja Luka, bases on a Decision on use of resources for participation of Bosnia and Herzegovina at the Venetian Biennale 2026, as the end-user of grant to non-profit organisations for the needs of participation of Bosnia and Herzegovina at the Venetian Biennale of Contemporary Art 2026.

This way, the Ministry of Civil Affairs of BIH will secure KM 250,000 for arrangement of Bosnia and Herzegovina Pavillion at the 61st Venetian Biennale, while the Ministry of Education and Culture of Republika Srpska should secure KM 200.000.

Adopting the piece of information on participation of BIH at the Venetian Biennale in 2026-2031 defines a schedule of representation of Bosnia and Herzegovina at one of the most prestigious and oldest festivals of contemporary art. So, the Ministry of Education and Culture of Republika Srpska will, through the Ministry of Civil Affairs, propose representatives to the Council of Ministers of BIH at the Venetian Biennale of Contemporary Art in 2026 and 2029, while the Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports will propose representatives in 2027, 2028 2030 and 2031.

In case of impossibility of participation of one of representatives, the order of representation may be amended, with consent of responsible Entity Ministries and in compliance with relevant principles. (end)
