Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina Dr. Nikola Špirić received Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Italy Franco Fratini.

Chairman Špirić emphasised that the visit by Fratini will give a new impulse and incentive to the continued improvement of bilateral relations between B-H and Italy.

Špirić stressed a need for conclusion of bilateral contracts, which would make the existing cooperation between the two countries even more fruitful. It was assessed that the conclusion of the Agreement on Avoidance of Double Taxation would open new possibilities for foreign investments and inflow of Italian capital to B-H.

Chairman Špirić invited Minister Fratini to make Italian authorities encourage Italian investors to invest to B-H more strongly. Views were exchanged on investment possibilities in B-H, and models of presentation of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s potentials to Italian investors were agreed in principle.

Other than the highlighted need for a stronger breakthrough in economic cooperation, Chairman Špirić expressed the interest of B-H for a closer cooperation in the areas of education, culture and sports.

Chairman Špirić stressed the importance for a valorisation of Council of Ministers’ efforts in the fulfilment of the Road Map obligations for visa liberalisation to take place as soon as possible.

Chairman Špirić thanked to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Italy for his commitments for visa liberalisation for B-H citizens, as well as for a strong support provided by Italy in B-H’s process of accession to EU i NATO.

Chairman Špirić informed Minister Fratini of the current political situation in B-H, assessing that the internal dialogue of the legitimate political representatives is the only way of overcoming the challenges standing on B-H’s European way.
